Towards Equity in Precision Medicine

We are driven by medical practice, data science, and a passion for life.

aiGEN is using a Digital Knowledge Platform, Medical Practice, and Data Science, to improve and enhance people’s lives. The medical practice provides the knowledge and skills to diagnose and treat illnesses, while data science allows us to analyze vast amounts of data to identify patterns and trends that can lead to better patient outcomes. By combining these two fields with a passion for life, we can work towards creating a healthier, happier world.

For genomics, “omics and data sciences” to positively revolutionize the daily practice of precision medicine, databases, and biological repositories are needed that adequately represent the enormous genetic diversity of humanity.

Although the number of genomic research studies involving non-European populations are improving modestly, the overall numbers are still low, so decisive action is needed to make the changes necessary to realize the promise of precision medicine for all.

For example, in America, Hispanic/Latino individuals represent less than 1% of all individuals participating in population genetic research. (Despite constituting almost 10% of the world’s population). In contrast, European populations comprise more than 80% of the participants in genetic-genomic research and constitute less than 20% of individuals worldwide.

aiGEN is working for a future with genomic equity, democratizing access to precision medicine in the Americas and globally underserved populations.
